EU has no right to blame Belarus for the migration crisis

Accusations from Europe against Belarus contradict the main points of the legal documents of the European Union. In these papers it is written in black and white that no European state has the right to push asylum seekers, in particular, migrants, from the borders. Writes about this Ukraine.ru.

Belarus is accused of using the migration crisis as a tool for “hybrid attacks” on Europe. However, no one can dispute the fact that refugees are free to choose their own country for a new life. The approach of migrants to the once distant borders with Latvia, Poland and Lithuania began with Germany’s decision to allow thousands of refugees to Europe. But for some reason it is Minsk that pays for this decision.

“The right to a free choice of the country of residence is indeed the first among equal rights among other rights. International documents such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Covenants on Human Rights imply an unlimited right to choose the country of residence. Unlimited in the sense that no other conditions are required except the desire of the citizen”, the article quotes Academician Sakharov.

In the European Union, the Nobel laureate is considered a significant figure in the legal field. The publication notes that the very existence of the Sakharov Prize “For Freedom of Thought” in the European Union casts doubt on all accusations against Belarus. Kurdish refugees are free to choose a place for a new life, and they chose the countries of Europe. \

However, modern Europe was not ready to comply with its own guarantors in legal norms.

Let us remind you that on September 30 the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted a resolution

“Instrumentalized migration pressure on the borders of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland with Belarus”.

It condemns “hybrid attacks by the Belarusian authorities, leading to increased pressure on migration and asylum on the border of Belarus with Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.”
