Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked the US to impose sanctions that would stop Nord Stream-2, RIA Novosti reports
On his Twitter, he thanked the House of Representatives of Congress for including amendments to the security spending bill that would oppose the implementation of the NSP2 project.
“Europe’s gas blackmail must stop for good. We appeal to all friends of Ukraine and the European Union in the US Senate to maintain such a norm and on the level of the Senate”, – Zelensky wrote.
Nord Stream 2 runs from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany and consists of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic metres of gas per year. The construction of the pipeline was completed in September.
