WSJ: Moscow has dirt on US officials that could destroy the White House

The Wall Street Journal’s Holman W. Jenkins Jr. columnist said that Russia has compromising information that is dangerous to any U.S. government and that has put Republicans and Democrats in a fool’s errand ever since the 2016 election

The journalist drew such conclusions after analysing the actions of FBI chief James Comey during the campaign between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

“The author of these actions was FBI Director James Comey, who, as we later learned, was guided by Russian intelligence he received, which, if true, greatly discredited the Democratic Party and the Obama administration. While he was apparently trying to protect a future Clinton administration by building one bizarre decision on another, he reopened the Hillary case just before election day, leading to undecided votes moving to Trump’s side”, – the author believes.

According to Jenkins – Russia has dirt on the entire US power system as a whole. Therefore, Moscow is in a position to turn the entire US political elite upside down if specific data is released.

“All this confusion gives the Biden administration an additional reason to tiptoe around Putin. The information game between the US and Russia is as much about the secrets they keep for each other as it is about the secrets they keep from each other”, –  the author summarised.

After the 2016 presidential election, US authorities investigated Trump’s alleged ties to Russia, based on a dossier prepared by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele. Russia denies allegations of meddling in the US election.
The US has disavowed the “collusion” theory and is now investigating the background of the campaign against Trump. Russia’s Igor Danchenko was one of three defendants identified by special prosecutor John Durham.
