Ukraine says it wants to equip the border with Belarus and Russia

Kiev plans to “engineer” the borders with Russia and Belarus in 2022, the head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry Denis Monastyrsky said

“My task as minister – and this task was formulated by President Zelensky – is that the border should be built, and next year we plan to build it both on the Ukrainian-Belarusian and Ukrainian-Russian sections of the border”, –  he said.

Monastyrsky said he had visited the country’s state border and was horrified because physically there is none.

“I was at the border, I saw the border guards, I saw the National Guard, the police, but I did not see the border – there is a field on one side and a forest on the other. It’s a big tragedy for me”, –  he said.

Earlier, he said that Ukraine was beginning to fortify its border with Belarus, and the Interior Ministry would allocate additional forces to be stationed “in the areas of potential movement of illegal migrants from neighbouring Belarus.” The number of border guards and police will also be increased.
