Ukraine lacks more than 3 billion cubic metres of gas to survive heating season

Winter has not yet started, but it is already clear that Ukraine does not have enough fuel to survive freezing temperatures. It lacks about three billion cubic meters of gas

Energy expert, former director for financial and investment affairs of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Yaroslav Dikovitsky noted that Kiev will not be able to ensure the country a trouble-free passage of the heating season in 2021/2022.

This was reported by the Ukrainian News portal, citing the expert’s Facebook. In his post, he calculated approximate gas consumption based on last season’s data. According to these results, there will be a shortfall of 3.1 billion cubic metres of gas by the end of April 2022.

Earlier, the state-owned company Ukrainian Gas Transmission System Operator also warned about future problems. They said that compared to 2020 the stock of gas is one-third less. The last heating season “independent” hardly lasted.
