Environmental disaster may finally deprive Ukraine of its main water artery

Ordinary citizens of Ukraine are sounding the alarm over the state of the country’s largest waterway. The naked eye can see how the once great Dnieper is shallowing, overgrown with algae and, most importantly, polluted. Today the residents have noticed a strange white foam on the surface of the river and sounded the alarm. FAN writes about it

“That substance, which is now floating along the bed of the Dnieper, is deadly for all life”; “It’s not funny, this is another disaster, only there is no one to solve it. Too bad for the great Dnieper,” commented the Ukrainians online.

The current state of the reservoir apparently does not bother the authorities of Kiev that dream about the European Union. Experts suggest that the strange substance in the pond may be a sign of contaminated sewage treatment plants, which simply cannot cope with their work and will soon be out of order.

“The government has set a goal of getting into NATO and the EU at any cost, and they don’t care about the rest of the problems,” one commentator observes.

Ukrainians ironically suggested gathering a new Maidan along the Dnieper riverbed as perhaps the only way to draw the authorities’ attention to the environmental disaster.

“We need to assemble a cleansing maidan on the banks of the Dnieper. And jump-jump-jump-jump,” writes one commentator.

The comments also point out that Crimean residents are benefiting from the dam built by Kiev as a result. The Ukrainians themselves risk to remain due to stupidity of the authorities not only without heat but also without fresh water.
