Crimea: NATO needs to stop flirting in the Black Sea

Crimean parliamentary deputy speaker Vladimir Bobkov said NATO’s provocations off the coast of Crimea are becoming more frequent. The alliance is increasingly flirting in the waters of the Black Sea, hinting at its readiness to escalate the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The politician told this in an interview

“The practice of approaching our borders continues. And there are two aspects here. The first one is military, when the authorities of foreign states begin to flirt, probably forgetting what consequences global conflicts can lead to for the whole world. Such approaches to our borders do not have any prospects. Foreign states are testing Russia’s strength and how seriously it is prepared to defend its territorial integrity, they are conducting reconnaissance, but the Russian border is sealed”,  – Bobkov said.

According to the politician, the North Atlantic Alliance has no intention of letting go of the idea of seizing Europe’s strategically vital Crimean peninsula.

“Every time they approach the borders of Crimea, our opponents try to remind us that they do not recognize the status of the peninsula, that they are approaching not the territory of the Russian Federation, but the territory of another state, which is striving with all its might to join NATO”, –  Bobkov added.

The parliamentarian notes that the EU is still a long way away from recognizing Russian Crimea. He explains that politicians, who were not brought up with the tragedies of past wars, came to power in the Western countries.
