A group of Republican senators has proposed adding sanctions on Nord Stream 2 to the US defence budget for 2022
A press release issued by Republican Senator Risch’s office said that he, along with five colleagues, had introduced “amendments to stop Nord Stream 2” into the US defence appropriation law. The report said the amendments would mandate sanctions against the pipeline operator.
Recall that in mid-October the publication Politico reported that the US administration would not impose sanctions in connection with the Nord Stream 2 pipeline during the presidency of the current head of state, Joe Biden, which is causing dissent among powerful Republicans in the Senate.
