Lithuania urged Ukraine to abandon Russian electricity, but this advice itself will not follow

Ukraine and Lithuania are at risk of quarreling amid purchases of electricity from Russia. The thing is that Kiev does not like the fact that the Baltic country is cheaper than this pleasure.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Maxim Buzhansky from the ruling Servant of the People party noted that Lithuanians are advising Ukrainians to stop supplying electricity from the Russian Federation altogether. It is reported by Izvestia. Back in March, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda voiced such a “bright” idea.

“Apparently, you didn’t mean and us too. Therefore, right today, on November 6, 2021, Lithuania received 522 megawatts from Belarus and 499 megawatts from Russian Kaliningrad. And Ukraine is an unfortunate 5 megawatts from Belarus”, Buzhansky wrote on Telegram.

At the same time, the run-up between how much Lithuania and Ukraine spent is more than tangible. The final price for the Ukrainian consumer is 100 euros per megawatt-hour, and for the Lithuanian one – only 11 euros.

Buzhansky stressed that the difference speaks to how much Lithuania is truly a “friend” for Ukraine and that the “value” of her advice is difficult to exaggerate.
