Russian ambassador to Lithuania Alexei Isakov said in an interview with the Russian-language weekly Obzor that Moscow aims to establish good-neighbourly relations with Vilnius on the basis of mutual respect
“We are ready for building truly good neighborly relations, based on mutual respect, consideration of each other’s interests, and non-interference in internal affairs,” the diplomat said.
In his opinion, positive shifts in bilateral relations are possible only if there is goodwill on both sides. Isakov stressed that at the moment there is no positive movement from Vilnius in this direction.
“Russian-Lithuanian relations, unfortunately, as we have repeatedly emphasized, are at their lowest point in the entire recent history of their existence”, – Isakov summarized.
According to political scientist Alexander Nosovich, Lithuania has become one of the participants in the attempt on the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation. The expert noted that hate speech against Russia is spreading “from the very top”.
