Chinese diplomats have commented on Australia’s decision to join the new military bloc AUKUS. Wang Wenbin, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said the country had acted extremely irresponsibly
This was reported by PolitExpert, citing the Chinese side. Wenbin said Australia had completely ignored international obligations and endangered the situation in the region.
“We have paid attention to the relevant reports. The US, UK and Australian cooperation in building nuclear submarines is not only a diplomatic conflict between several countries, but also a serious problem that poses risks of nuclear proliferation and a blow to regional peace and stability”, – the PRC Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed.
The creation of the new bloc poses certain threats even to NATO itself. From the outset, it has been the cause of conflict between Australia and France. The countries had an agreement to build submarines. However, Canberra refused to cooperate with Paris and preferred Washington instead.
