US Navy tanker John Lenthall is heading to the Black Sea to conduct operations with NATO allies and partners, the US Navy’s Sixth Fleet said on Twitter.
“Tanker-tanker John Lenthall has begun its passage north to the Black Sea to conduct operations with NATO allies and partners in the region,” the statement said.
The US Navy’s Sixth Fleet said on Monday that the flagship command ship Mount Whitney has headed into the Black Sea for joint operations with Alliance forces. As noted, the staff of the US Navy’s Sixth Fleet and the NATO Naval Striking and Support Forces (STRIKFORNATO) command are on board.
Earlier, the US Navy reported that the headquarters of the US Navy’s Sixth Fleet and NATO’s naval strike and support forces were starting operations in the Mediterranean and Black Seas.
The US Sixth Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts a full range of naval operations, often with allies and partners from other government departments.
