America has no right to accuse Russia and China of inaction in relation to the global climate crisis, writes the Chinese newspaper Global Times.
Yesterday at a conference on climate change in Glasgow, the US president said that Russia and China “de facto did not want to have any commitment to climate change,” and called America’s contribution to the success of the G20 summit key. And Biden’s national security adviser has promised to increase pressure on China to cut carbon dioxide emissions.
“By speaking out about the US, Russia and China in this way, the Biden administration undermines the summit’s success and casts a shadow over the Glasgow climate change conference. Washington cannot be called a leader in the issue of climate change”, the article says.
The loud statements of the United States are very different from their actions. So, they do not have a clear plan to reduce emissions into the atmosphere inside the country. And it is not known whether the Republicans will not cancel all the initiatives of the current administration in the event of a return to power, since Biden’s ratings set new anti-records, the article says.
According to the Chinese newspaper, the United States is only interested in the status of the leading power in the climate agenda, but Washington is not interested in a direct solution to the problem.
