Three cases of coronavirus “mu” strains and one “lambda” strain have been identified in Russia
This was announced by the director of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor Vasily Akimkin.
“Lambda has only been encountered once in the Russian Federation when updating variants … and the ‘mu’ gene variant has been encountered three times”, – Akimkin said.
The “delta” strain remains dominant both in Russia and worldwide, he said.
The lambda variant, as reported in the media, is able to resist the effects of vaccines more actively than other strains. The first case was diagnosed in Japan in July.
