Moldova and Gazprom signed a gas contract for five years

Moldovagaz and the Russian company Gazprom have extended the contract for the supply of blue fuel for another five years. This was reported on the Gazprom website.

“PJSC Gazprom and JSC Moldovagaz have extended the contract for the supply of Russian gas to consumers in Moldova from November 1, 2021 for a period of five years on mutually beneficial terms,” the statement says.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Moldova, Moscow and Chisinau have also agreed on the formula for calculating the price, as well as the repayment of the republic’s debt for fuel.

As previously reported, the Moldovan authorities were forced to introduce a state of emergency against the backdrop of an acute gas shortage. Chisinau signed a contract with Poland for a trial supply of one million cubic meters of blue fuel, but experts noted that gas from third countries will cost Moldova much more than Russian gas.
