G20 summit opens in Rome

The G20 summit began work in Rome, the meeting participants arrived on Saturday morning at the Cloud congress center, located in the southern quarter of the Italian capital Eur, RIA Novosti reports.

The participants in the meeting, heads of state and government, as well as major international organizations, arrived by car to the red carpet leading to the line of flags at the entrance to the congress center, to which they were greeted by Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. Among the latter, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived at the summit.

After the general photo, the participants will proceed to the first working session dedicated to the “world economy and health”. The main topics of the summit were declared climate, recovery and the consequences of the pandemic: in particular, the problems of developing countries in conducting a vaccination campaign and supporting their own economies will be discussed.
