Poland’s PGNiG is asking Gazprom to reduce the price of gas for the republic under the Yamal contract
The Polish oil and gas company has applied for a revision of the gas contract price. It linked it to the scale of changes in the market in recent months and unprecedented gas prices.
“On 28 October 2021 PGNiG sent a letter to PJSC Gazprom and OOO Gazprom Export, which modifies PGNiG’s application of February 2020 for the revision of the price of gas supplied under the natural gas sales contract to Poland of 25 September 1996 (the so-called Yamal Contract) downwards so that the current market situation can be taken into account in the revision process,” the company said in a statement.
PGNiG head Pawel Majewski said that the unprecedented rise in natural gas prices on the European wholesale market was an emergency situation and was the basis for a review of the price conditions.
