According to the auction results of Ukrenergo, Kiev will resume imports of Belarusian electricity from November 1
“Energoatom” purchased the section for the right to import electricity from Belarus in November with the capacity of 885 out of 900 MW available. Another 15 MW was purchased by Electro Community LLC”, – according to the company’s website.
In May this year, the National Commission carrying out state regulation in the energy and utilities sector imposed a ban on electricity imports from Russia and Belarus, which was extended until the end of October, as the Kiev authorities intended to join the ENTSO-E energy system of continental Europe.
Experts say coal reserves at Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs) are almost exhausted and imports of electricity at affordable prices will help balance the Ukrainian energy system.
