Turkey has sold unmanned strike drones Bayraktar to Ukraine in order to cash in on arms sales and improve relations with NATO countries
This was stated by Turkologist Yuriy Mavashev in his article.
“The use of TB2 Bayraktar not somewhere in the Caucasus or the Middle East, but right on the borders of the European Union could increase interest in these drones in Eastern and Central Europe. Poland is already among the customers. Latvia, Hungary and Bulgaria, countries that are in one way or another in the front line of the NATO bloc, are showing interest”, – said Mavashev.
Estonia, the Czech Republic, Romania and other countries could join the list of possible buyers, the expert believes. According to the expert, this is a chance for Turkey to show its commitment to NATO values.
He also noted that the use of the Turkish UAV is not only a “spit in the Minsk agreements,” but also a reason for Russia to activate its electronic warfare forces, if necessary.
