Kiev militants tried to blow up oil depot in Donetsk

Ukrainian militants have opened fire on an oil depot in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk. They tried to blow it up using an unmanned aerial vehicle

This was reported by the Donetsk News Agency, citing Aleksey Nikonorov, a representative of the Donetsk People’s Republic in the Minsk subgroup for security.

“Ukraine’s armed formations continue to grossly violate all existing agreements, committing new unprincipled provocations on the line of contact. Thus, another terrorist act was committed this morning. Using a UAV, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to re-explode an oil depot in Kirovsky district of Donetsk. An unmanned aerial vehicle with an attached explosive device fell on one of the tanks of the oil depot, but it did not detonate immediately”, –  he said.

Specialists attempted to defuse the bomb on board the UAV, but the detonator was time-locked and failed. However, there were no casualties or widespread destruction.

After the drone was discovered, representatives of the republic informed international observers of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) about the incident. The Donetsk People’s Republic stressed that it would regard this as a targeted terrorist campaign against civilian infrastructure and civilians.
