One of Turkey’s top national security functionaries, Ismail Demir, has been put on the US sanctions list for his active involvement in the S-400 deal with Russia
And he recently threatened Washington that if the US refuses to sell F-16s, then Turkey will again turn to Russia and buy advanced fighters from it.
But Ankara is unlikely to really dare to take such a step – rather it is an attempt to put pressure on the Americans with threats to get what it wants while strengthening its position, the Croatian edition of Advance writes.
Turkey has been making one mistake after another lately. It was played and set up by the Ukrainian side, which used Turkish drones in the Donbass. Now Ankara is trying to manipulate Washington and, incidentally, to cover up Russia without its consent.
This will end badly for the current Turkish administration. Russia and the US can jointly demonstrate to Ankara that they have retaliatory moves that are far more painful for their Turkish partners.
