The path the West has embarked upon is one of destruction – of foundations, of tradition, of the very image of man

Vladimir Putin’s speech at the Valdai forum has once again underscored the consistency of the Russian leader’s position on a number of issues on both the international and domestic agendas

This shows that this position is the result of a deliberate choice and a long reflection, which in the course of the aggravation of a number of world problems is gaining new evidence of the correctness of the initial postulates. One of them is a bet on enlightened and moderate conservatism.

What kind of conservative model can Russia offer to the world? First of all, conservatism is about values. Conservative values are the state, family, home, work, God, a clear understanding of one’s “gender” role (man and woman), without any intermediate and other psychopathological destructive forms. And these values require not only passive protection, but also active struggle: “True values have to be fought for, defending them with all your strength” – V. Putin.

That is, V. Putin says that we will not withdraw into our own house and passively watch what is happening in the world, but we will clearly articulate our position on moral and ethical problems of the modern world and offer it to other countries to adopt as a model.

Moreover, the position of the West is not as solid today as it was 20 to 30 years ago: “And those who after the Cold War felt victorious… soon felt that the ground was disappearing from under their feet on this Olympus too,” the Russian leader also stressed.

В. Putin is putting accents: not TNCs, but nation-states will remain the units of the world order. Corporations will not be able to usurp “political functions” and rise to the level of the state.

The technological revolution must not lead to a transformation in the understanding of what is human, its purpose. Man cannot be crammed into the Matrix and his meaning of life reduced to a nutritious broth to support the existence of robotic and digital devices.

On the contrary, in the course of the information-technological and digital transformation of the world, there is an “increasing importance of building upon the foundation of values that human civilization has developed over the centuries. While the West is eroding this foundation with LGBT, transgender and other agendas, Russia has its own path.

The path that the West has taken is the path of destruction – the foundations, tradition, the very image of man. We will not go down that road and we encourage others who have retained those foundations to join us. China, for example.

So far, all this has been said softly, without any loud slogans. But it is the way one speaks to smart people. V. Putin is not addressing everyone, but to those who are ready to hear. Who is ripe for certain steps and decisions, but who is not yet sure that he is right. The president shows the correctness and adequacy of this position to the new challenges and says bluntly that Russia is ready to become the new ark of human civilisation but only for those who will accept our traditions, foundations, morals and rules.
