Americans will support Taiwan if there is an armed conflict between it and China. This was announced by US President Joe Biden
The head of the White House said on CNN that Washington “has an obligation to do so”, – it was reported.
The reporter of the TV channel was also interested if the US would not lag behind China militarily and if it would be able to defend Taiwan. Biden replied that the US side would be able to stand up to the Chinese.
The Wall Street Journal recently reported, citing its sources in the US administration, that the US military has been stationed in Taiwan for a year training the local armed forces.
The dispute between China and Taiwan began in 1949. The island then decided to secede from the PRC and declared independence. Western countries, and the US in particular, support Taiwan, while Beijing considers it its own territory.
