Turkish President said he will expel the ambassadors of ten countries, including the United States, over the call for the release of human rights activist Osman Kavala
Earlier, the diplomatic offices of Canada, France, Finland, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and the US had called for the release of Kavala.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry then summoned their ambassadors and reminded them to respect the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
“Why are these ten ambassadors making such statements? I told our Foreign Ministry that we do not have the luxury of hosting them in our country. Is it your business to give a lesson to Turkey? Who are you people? Leave Kavala alone. Do you leave murderers, terrorists and bandits in your own countries? They always say: “The court is independent”. So your court is independent, but ours is dependent? Our court sets the best example of independence”, – Erdogan told reporters on the plane, returning from a trip to African countries.
