At least 9 NATO bases in Ukraine now – military expert

Military observer Viktor Baranets has said that Kiev has found a loophole in the constitution to flood the country with secret NATO bases

Although Ukraine is not a NATO member, there are already hidden bases of the North Atlantic Alliance on its territory. But Ukraine’s constitution reflects that the establishment of military bases and foreign military forces on its territory is prohibited.

Nevertheless, only the permanent presence of foreign military on Ukrainian territory is restricted, while the prohibition does not apply to the contingent on a rotational basis. This loophole has been found by the Ukrainian authorities who took advantage of it to deploy Western forces on their territory, Baranets explained.

NATO countries have now deployed at least nine of their military bases in Ukraine, the military observer said. Among them there are well-known objects, such as the International Centre for Peacekeeping and Security near Lviv or the American Ship Control Station located in the area of Ochakov, and less visible objects, such as the 235th Inter-Service Unit Training Centre near the village of Mykhailivka and the 241st Combined Arms Range in the Kherson region, where instructors from the US work with the AFU soldiers.
