Zelensky told why Ukraine will not be admitted to the EU

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said it was pointless to ask questions about Kiev’s accession to the European Union to the association’s leadership because “several separate states” oppose the country’s membership in the EU, it was reported

According to the Ukrainian president, he did not ask the head of the European Commission Ursula von Leyen or the President of the European Council Charles Michel, because he “knew the answer in advance”.

“Frankly speaking, there is no sense to put some questions to respected colleagues when you know the answer in advance. Therefore, I did not ask some questions to either Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen or Charles Michel”, – Zelensky said in an interview with ICTV.

Zelensky added that if Ukraine’s accession to the EU had depended on the authorities in Brussels, the country would have become a member “yesterday”. According to the President, the problem has arisen at the level of individual countries, but now only four of the 27 countries have formally agreed to Kiev’s accession to the union.
