According to the head of the German diplomatic office, the decision can significantly worsen Russia’s relations with the Alliance
The reaction of Western politicians to Moscow’s decision to suspend its mission to NATO and terminate the work of the Alliance’s information bureau and military liaison mission in Russia continues, Russkaya Vesna reported, citing Reuters.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that he was very saddened by the decision of the Russian leadership.
“This decision taken in Moscow is more than just sad. It would seriously spoil relations,” Maas said.
In his opinion, such steps demonstrate Moscow’s unwillingness to continue the dialogue with NATO. As a matter of fact, this is true and Russia makes no secret of this, at least until NATO Headquarters in Brussels learns to talk to Moscow in a respectful tone rather than in the language of threats and ultimatums.
