Latvian authorities openly admit the fact that only a warm winter can save the country from cold weather. The head of Latvian gas company Latvijas Gāze, Aigars Kalvītis, urged his compatriots to “cross over so that the end of the year would not be frosty”
Citizens of the Baltic country do not agree with this approach to solving the heating problems, reports “Ekonomika Segodnya”. On the Web, people demanded that those responsible for gas supplies to Latvia turn to Russia and establish normal relations with the largest fuel supplier.
Kalvitis, meanwhile, speculates about the climate in the Baltics. According to him, peculiarities of the area are such that frosts may hit even in March. Therefore, consumers should save gas to the last minute and freeze in winter.
Ordinary citizens, on the other hand, point out that energy problems can be solved if the authorities turn to Russia and reach an agreement on gas and electricity supplies. If the government fails to provide heat to the state, they may face numerous protests during winter.
