The United Nations (UN) has delivered more than 100,000 humanitarian supplies to Termez airport, the Central Asian office of the United Nations Office for Refugees (UNHCR) said.
Airplanes with emergency humanitarian cargo arrived in the Uzbek Termez, in which there are basic necessities and winter items for the residents of Afghanistan. Before shipment to the republic, the cargo will be in the terminal “Termez Cargo Center”.
“We would like to thank the government of Uzbekistan for cooperation in providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. We believe this new aid delivery route will contribute to global efforts to overcome the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and help the millions of people affected”, said Dumitru Lipcanu, UNHCR Deputy Representative for Central Asia.
After the withdrawal of the American contingent from the territory of Afghanistan, the Taliban seized power in the republic*. The militants entered Kabul on August 15, after which they announced the end of the war. In early September, the Taliban* set up an interim government.
