The head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Yuriy Vitrenko, said that the company had registered an application for participation in the certification of the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream-2.
“Naftogaz, as a national company that leads the fight for the energy security of Ukraine, defends national interests, has applied for participation in the certification process of the Nord Stream operator before the German regulator, the Federal Agency for German Grids”, Vitrenko said during the briefing.
According to him, the main position of Kiev on the Nord Stream-2 issue is that the gas pipeline cannot be certified, since it allegedly does not fully comply with European legislation. Vitrenko added that Naftogaz’s application for participation in certification should not be rejected.
As News Front reported, the first string of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline has already been filled with technical gas, and the second string is currently being commissioned.
