Rights of Russian-speaking population violated in Ukraine

VKSORS coordinator Baklanov said that the situation with the observance of the rights of the Russian-speaking population is alarming, reports Lenta.ru.

Coordinator of the All-Ukrainian Council of Russian Compatriots Yevgeny Baklanov reported on the violation of the rights of Russian-speaking people in Ukraine. According to him, in a number of countries the situation remains alarming and extremely unfavorable when it comes to the observance of the rights and legitimate interests of Russian citizens.

“There is a purposeful whipping up of Russophobia, the ousting of the Russian language from education and other spheres of public life, and the restriction of the work of the media. There are facts of judicial and extrajudicial persecution of social activists and journalists from among Russian compatriots”, the public figure emphasized.

Baklanov spoke about his observations at the World Congress of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad “Russia and Compatriots in a Changing World”. He summed up that the priority direction of the work of Russian departments, society and associations should be human rights activities.
