He stressed that the statements of Western politicians that Russia is using the gas pipeline as an instrument of political pressure are nonsense.
Answering the question whether Russia will continue to increase gas supplies to Western Europe if Germany does not promptly issue the appropriate permission to launch the SP-2, he recalled that Russia this year increased Russian gas supplies through the Ukrainian gas transportation system by 10% in excess of contractual obligations.
“We cannot do more, because the equipment of this pipeline has never been modernized and reconstructed, so it is simply dangerous to use it,” the ambassador said.
Earlier, the statements of the West that Russia allegedly uses energy as a weapon were also called politically motivated chatter by Vladimir Putin.
