Russia ready to supply electricity to Ukraine

Russia’s Energy Ministry says it is ready to desynchronize Ukraine’s power system

The Russian energy system is ready for the desynchronization of the Ukrainian energy system, and also remains ready to supply electricity there if Ukraine needs it, said Nikolai Shulginov, head of the Russian Ministry of Energy.

“In general, Ukraine has been preparing for de-synchronization for a long time. It will be done next year to leave the synchronous zone in 2023. But for us leaving the synchronous zone or import requests have no effect whatsoever”, –  Shulginov said.

He added that if Ukraine, as in previous years, faces a shortage of energy capacity due to a shortage of fuel or high accidents at thermal power plants, the Russian energy system is ready to make such imports, but everything will depend on commercial conditions.

Ukraine intends by 2023 to disconnect from the energy systems of Russia and Belarus and join the system of electricity supply from the EU
