Vladimir Putin has once again confirmed that Russia is ready to help Europe survive the gas crisis, which was essentially created by the Europeans themselves. Russia is promptly responding to all requests of the EU to increase gas supplies and is ready to do so further. This statement was made by the President at the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week
“If we are asked to increase the gas supplies any further, we are ready to do so. We increase as much as our partners ask us to. There is not a single refusal. Not a single one. We increase gas supplies to Europe. “Gazprom increased its supplies to Europe by 10 per cent, and Russia as a whole increased its supplies to Europe by 15 per cent”, – the Russian leader said.
European countries have long advocated the transition to the spot market, despite all the warnings about possible crises and problems with this pricing model. What they fought for, they encountered – market gas prices have skyrocketed and now Russia has to bail out its absurd European partners again. If they had concluded long-term contracts with Gazprom, none of this would have happened.
