US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin will be visiting Ukraine next week, Ukrainian media have reported
The US defence secretary will travel to Europe next week. He is scheduled to visit Ukraine, Georgia, Romania and Brussels for a meeting of NATO defence ministers.
“The Secretary and his team will be preparing for a trip to Europe next week. Stops will include Georgia, Ukraine and Romania, and he will conclude this important visit with allies and partners in Brussels at the NATO defence ministers’ meeting”, – Pentagon spokesman Kirby said.
Austin’s planned visit to Ukraine in the autumn became known on 1 September. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said then that the US delegation would work together with Ukrainian authorities on a framework defence agreement, which Ukraine and the USA signed in Washington on 31 August.
