Joseph Borrell says Ukraine needs more reforms to join the EU

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that Ukraine needs to “move forward towards the reform process.”

According to Borrell, Kiev “is already close to the European Union in terms of geographical and cultural proximity.” The High Representative noted that the EU “recognized and welcomed Ukraine’s European aspirations and its European choice.

“Moving forward towards the process of reform and convergence is the best tool to achieve this goal. This means working on the implementation of the agreement, the continuation of the brilliant cooperation between Ukraine and the institutions and agencies of the European Union and generally conducting joint business, travel to work and study in the European Union and vice versa”, Borrell said in an interview with Radio Liberty.

According to experts, Ukraine will not be able to become a member of the European Union for a long time. The reason for this is the appalling level of corruption in the country, the conflict in the territory of Donbass and economic degradation.

As previously reported by News Front, some regions of Ukraine may be left without heating in the coming winter against the background of a record jump in gas prices. Ukrainian hospitals are forced to switch to heating with wood.
