Foreign Ministry calls terrorist attack in Afghan mosque barbaric

The Russian Foreign Ministry strongly condemns the terrorist attack in a Shiite mosque in Afghanistan and regards this “barbaric action as aimed at destabilizing the situation in Afghanistan,” the ministry said in a statement.

On Friday, as a result of a terrorist attack in a Shiite mosque in the Afghan province of Kunduz, at least 120 people were killed and at least 150 were injured.

“We strongly condemn the terrorist attack organized on October 8 in the Shiite mosque in Kunduz (Afghanistan). We regard this barbaric action as aimed at destabilizing the situation in Afghanistan at a new stage in its history, at undermining the line of those forces that are interested in inter-Afghan reconciliation and the establishment of interethnic and interfaith harmony in the country”, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also expressed the hope that the new Afghan authorities will take all necessary measures to find and punish the organizers of the terrorist attack, as well as intensify efforts to eradicate the threat of IS terrorists in Afghanistan*.
