Ukrainian actor accused of betrayal for working in Russian film

Vitaly Salii, a Ukrainian actor who works at the Kiev Academic Drama and Comedy Theatre, has fallen out of favor with “patriots” for shooting in a Russian TV series

This was reported by the Ukraina.ru website, citing Obozrevatel. information about Saliy’s work in the “Bukhta Glubokaya” appeared on the website of the Russian TV channel NTV. He played the role of a Russian naval officer.

The network immediately started hysteria on the part of radical Ukrainians. They accused the actor of being a traitor and that he should be fired from the theatre. Numerous insults were also hurled at Saliy.

They were joined by writer Larisa Nitsoy, known for her displays of Russophobia. On her Facebook page she addressed Salii, hinting that he “sold out to Moscow”.

It is worth noting that Salii has never positioned himself as someone who considers Russia an aggressor. He has been working with the Comediant Asylum theatre in St Petersburg for many years. He is also married to Russian actress Anna Arefieva.
