Moldovans urged to save gas and switch to alternative fuel

Moldovagaz urged the consumers to reduce gas consumption and switch to an alternative fuel whenever possible, the press service of the company reports

It is reported that in October Moldova contracted Gazprom to supply 54 million cubic meters of gas, while the required 80 million cubic meters, so the consumption exceeds the supply.

“Covering of the gas import shortage is carried out from the main gas pipelines of the Republic, which leads to a pressure drop in the gas transmission system of Moldovatransgas (a subsidiary of Moldovagaz)”, –  the statement said.

The company explained the situation by the fact that a one-year gas supply contract between Moldovagaz and Gazprom expired in September and the parties extended it for a month.

“PJSC Gazprom did not have a legal basis for arranging the reservation of necessary capacities to transport natural gas through the Ukrainian gas transmission system for Moldovan consumers until October 2021”, –  the company added.
