Germany says Russia not involved in high gas prices in Europe

Russia is not to blame for high gas prices in Europe, but they cannot cause the withdrawal of Nord Stream 2 from the EU gas directive, RBC reports.

“Everyone was speculating that gas prices would fall and were waiting for this to happen in order to continue buying gas. It certainly didn’t work. But the situation is not connected with the Russians, but with those who form the gas policy here in Germany”, the politician said.

The deputy also stressed that “Nord Stream – 2”, even taking into account the current situation, will not be able to withdraw from the EU gas directive, since this “requires a court decision.”

On Monday, October 4, during the auction, the gas price in Europe broke another record, exceeding $ 1200 per 1,000 cubic meters.
