Economist Mikhail Delyagin believes that Russia can stop the flow of accusations from the US and some European countries that it is allegedly trying to freeze the European Union
The expert noted that the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is even more necessary for the EU than it is for Russia, Economy Today reported. Gazprom could divert its fuel to other destinations. As far as Europe is concerned, it must fulfil its obligations under long-term contracts.
That said, it is the European Union that needs Russian gas. Even the liquefied gas that the U.S. sells to Europe is often produced by Russia. NOVATEK resells the fuel to the Americans.
Delyagin believes that Russia can stop all the accusations with harsh methods. He calls for denying journalists who regularly produce aggressive publications on the subject access to official sources in Russia. This is what the German authorities routinely do when they send provocateurs from the media to the cold kitchen. This means they do not get any data directly.
The economist also suggests punishing companies that fund such publications. They should be prohibited from any cooperation with Russia in the energy sector. In this way, the expert believes, it will be possible to quickly stop the next anti-Russian accusations.
