Kuleba talks about plans to hold a meeting of the Commission for Strategic Partnership between Ukraine and the USA

A meeting of the Ukraine-U.S. Strategic Partnership Commission is to be held in late October or early November

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told Interfax-Ukraine about it, the Cenzonr.net news agency reported. The diplomat noted that there is still no exact date.

“I think that the Commission meeting will take place tentatively in late October – first half of November. There is no date yet. We have two tasks. First, we need to reboot this body, to make it stronger, more efficient. We have developed our vision of how to do this and we will be discussing this with the Americans. Secondly, we have to adopt a new charter of strategic partnership, which will meet modern realities”, –  he said.

The Head of the Foreign Ministry also noted that, in his opinion, the work of this Commission is a driving force of the bilateral relations between Ukraine and the USA. Allegedly, it ensures preparation of various agreements and their implementation.

At the same time, Kuleba stressed that he would probably insist that the work was conducted at the level of the countries’ presidents. He said that he wanted to move away from the model when the vice-president of the United States speaks to the head of Ukraine. Apparently, he does not like the fact that Joe Biden (as well as the previous leaders) puts such an “important” issue as Ukraine on the shoulders of his deputy.
