Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that Ukrainian transit is “killed” not by “Turkish Stream”, but specifically by the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
“The Turkish gas infrastructure cannot be considered in isolation from the overall level of relations between Ukraine and Turkey and the huge amount of strategically important joint projects and areas of joint work. At the same time, you and I understand that it is not Turkish Stream but Nord Stream 2 that is killing Ukrainian transit,” Kuleba said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, one cannot consider the gas issue in Europe solely from the economic point of view. Kuleba believes that any contract for supply of gas to European countries is “a matter of political choice”.
“No matter how good are our relations with Germany, Nord Stream 2 is a point where we fundamentally disagree and are ready to defend our national interests”, – the minister said.
