Kabul bombing kills twelve people

There was an explosion near the Idgah mosque in Kabul on Sunday, killing at least 12 people and injuring 32 others with varying degrees of severity. Al Jazeera reported the blast, citing an Afghan security source

According to the TV channel, at the time of the bombing, the mosque was holding a funeral ceremony for the mother of Zabihullah Mujahid, a representative of the radical Taliban movement that has seized power in the country. According to preliminary reports, the targets were Taliban leaders and officials in the new government.

“The explosion took place in a large crowd, leaving civilians in Kabul dead and injured,” Mujahid wrote on his Twitter.

Afghan Ministry of Interior (MoI) spokesperson Qari Saeed Hosti said the agency had detained three people in connection with the incident.
