According to the German expert, the chairman of the party that won the parliamentary elections in Germany, Olaf Scholz, is the most suitable candidate for the post of chancellor.
According to Narodnye Novosti, political scientist Alexander Rahr said that Olaf Scholz could become the German chancellor most convenient for Moscow, since he is more inclined to cooperate with Russia than his other colleagues. While the current leader of the CDU / CSU, Armin Laschet, who was supposed to be the successor of Angela Merkel, has already spoken out several times in favor of toughening the line towards Russia.
“Laschet has repeatedly stated that Germany must prove to the Russian Federation that it no longer pursues a smile policy, as Mrs. Merkel did,” Rahr explained. The latter are negatively disposed towards the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. For the Russian side, this can become a serious problem. Currently, the Russian Federation is waiting for the European Union to decide on the start of the project.
According to the expert, despite the completion of the construction of the gas pipeline, the “war” against it is not over yet, and the alignment of forces in the future government matters.
