The main requirement of the head of Belarus was to show all the material in its entirety, without mounting glues. The conversation with the journalist in Russia Matthew Chance took place on September 30 in Minsk, BelTA informs.
The official message emphasizes that Lukashenka answered all the questions raised by Matthew Chance about politics, migrants and fakes in the media as openly as possible. Also among the topics of conversation were Belarusian politicians who left the country and who are now on the side of the opposition.
Lukashenko also commented on the situation with the Ryanair plane landing at the Minsk airport, spoke about the country’s approaches in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The interview also raised the topic of Belarusian-Russian relations.
The American journalist was concerned that the country, developing cooperation with Russia, could lose its independence and become a kind of outpost in the western direction. But Alexander Lukashenko explained to the reporter what, in fact, everyone in Belarus knows:
“As for the fact that Belarus will become a part of the USA, Great Britain or Russia, it is absolutely stupid. I recently answered this question too. Putin and I, the leadership of Russia and Belarus as a whole, are smart enough to create a union within the framework of two independent, sovereign states that will be even stronger than a unitary entity”, the Belarusian leader said.
It should be noted that during the conversation the American journalist called Alexander Lukashenko “Mr. President”. That is, he did not question its legitimacy. These are the signals from the United States.
