Turkey to build Bayraktar drone operation centre in Ukraine

Ukraine and Turkey are going to build a joint training and test centre to operate Bayraktar drones

This is reported by Inforesist portal, referring to the statement of the Office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. It said Kiev and Ankara had signed a relevant memorandum.

“In the presence of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and Bayraktar Savunma to build and equip a common training and testing centre for maintenance, current repairs, modernisation of UAVs, as well as training personnel related to the operation of Bayraktar drones”, –  the OPU said.

Ukrainian Defence Minister Andriy Taran and Bayraktar CEO Haluk Bayraktar were the signatories.

Zelensky in this situation could not keep silent and said that he had been “waiting for this moment for a very long time”. He also thanked Turkish President Recep Erdogan for supporting the project. According to him, this is “a real support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence”. How another foreign military facility on the territory of the country contributes to independence, Zelensky did not specify.
