Roskomnadzor intends to fine Facebook in Russia about a billion rubles for repeated failure to remove banned information, Vedomosti reports
According to the newspaper, Roskomnadzor summoned Facebook represeantatives on October 4 to draw up a protocol for violating Russian law. The document will then be sent to the court, which will determine the amount of the fine for the corporation.
Since it is a repeated violation of Russian legislation on the removal of banned information, Facebook could be fined between “1/20 and 1/10 of the internet company’s annual turnover”, which experts estimate at around 12 billion roubles.
“Since 2014, more than 3,000 illegal materials containing child pornography, suicidal, pro-drug, fake, extremist and other content dangerous to Russian citizens remain unsuccessful”, – the RCN said.
