Lithuanian authorities have begun to install fences on the border with Belarus
This is reported by “European Truth,” referring to the statement on the website of the Lithuanian government. The barbed wire fence has been erected between the two countries to prevent the entry of illegal migrants.
The first stage of the barrier’s installation takes place near the resort town of Druskininkai. Preparatory work is underway in other parts of the border.
“After the installation of the wire at the most important border sections, the installation of fencing segments will begin. It is planned that the first segments will be delivered to the border in October and the construction phase will take place in November and December”, – the report says.
Authorities plan to install a fence about 100 kilometres long and four metres high at the first stage. The work is expected to be completed by the end of April 2022 and then move on to another section of the border.
