Former US ambassador to Berlin talks about Washington’s plans to impose sanctions on NSP2

Washington may impose sanctions against Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline as early as December this year

This was stated by the former American ambassador to Germany, Richard Burt, reports the LIGA.net. The diplomat is now the managing partner of McLarty Associates.

“It is very likely that a proposal will be debated in December to impose US sanctions on any organisation involved in the planning, construction or operation of Nord Stream 2”, –  he said.

Burt believes that US congressmen in October will raise the topic of next year’s defence budget amendments. They will use them to try to introduce restrictive measures against the NSP2 project. US President Joe Biden will unlikely use his veto power.
